Former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League who played for the Dallas Cowboys (1986–1998) and the Carolina Panthers (1999). He also played for the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League, in 1984 and 1985. Newton played college football at Florida A&M University.

Newton was a six time Pro Bowler, attending the game from 1992 through 1996 and once again in 1998. His ability to protect quarterback Troy Aikman and to run-block for running back Emmitt Smith helped the Cowboys win Super Bowls in 1992, 1993, and 1995.
