TEAM
TE-AMO’S DANA QUIGLEY NAMED CHAMPIONS TOUR PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
PGA
TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem has announced that Dana Quigley
was voted Player of the Year for 2005 by his fellow competitors
on the Champions Tour. He will receive the Jack Nicklaus Trophy
in recognition of his selection. “No honor is higher than that
of being selected by your peers,” said Finchem.
A member of Altadis U.S.A.’s Team Te-Amo since 1998, Quigley
sports a Te-Amo logo on his golf shirt and is rarely seen on
or off the golf course without his favorite cigar.
Known as professional golf’s “Iron Man” for having appeared
in 278 consecutive tournaments, Quigley, at age 58, is the oldest
player to win the award. The 2005 season was a career year for
Dana who racked up two victories, five second places and 15
top-ten finishes in 27 starts. His nearly $2.2 million in winnings
led the Champions Tour, earning him the Arnold Palmer Award.
Dana was edged out for the Charles Schwab Cup in the year’s
final tournament; but in true Dana Quigley fashion, he donated
his $500,000 second place prize to charity.
The entire Altadis U.S.A. family congratulates Team Te-Amo member
Dana Quigley on his spectacular achievement. Altadis U.S.A.
also thanks Dana for his ongoing participation in the Montecristo
Cup Charity Pro Am, an annual golf tournament that raises funds
for hurricane relief. |
