resort in La Romana, Dominican Republic. The event, which will take
place December 3rd through 7th, 2008, is hosted by cigar giant Altadis

professional golfers from the PGA Champions Tour. The tournament will
be played over three days at the renowned Teeth of the Dog and Dye
Fore courses.
Proceeds from the tournament, as in previous years, will benefit the
World of Montecristo Relief Organization, which was founded by Altadis
U.S.A. in 1998 to provide aid for victims of natural disasters in
the Caribbean and elsewhere. To date, the Relief Organization has
raised nearly $3 million to rebuild homes, schools, medical facilities
and provide economic opportunities.
The event attracts amateur golfers and cigar lovers from all over
the United States and as far away as Europe. Many of the top professionals
from the Champions Tour will be participating including 2005 Player
of the Year Dana Quigley, tour stars Jim Thorpe and Alan Doyle and

PREVIOUS EVENT REVIEW:
Altadis U.S.A. has announced that the Annual Montecristo Cup Charity

the Caribbean and the United States rebuild their lives. The event
was held at the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort and Country Club in Puerto
Rico.
Over 100 amateurs and professional golfers from the Champions Tour
took part in the tournament, played over three days on the famed Dorado
Beach East Course. Altadis U.S.A. hosted the event. Cigar Aficionado

Proceeds from the tournament, as in previous years, benefit the World
of Montecristo Relief Organization, which was founded by Altadis U.S.A.
in 1998 to provide aid for hurricane victims in the Caribbean. In
2005, in addition to providing relief to the stricken areas in the
Caribbean, Altadis U.S.A. and the Montecristo Relief Organization
combined to donate over $1,000,000 to the American Red Cross to help
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The event attracted amateur golfers and cigar lovers from all over
the U.S. and as far away as Europe. Many of the top pros on the Champions
Tour attended, including 2005 Player of the Year Dana Quigley and
Team Te-Amo. Amateurs and pros have called the Montecristo Cup the
best pro am they ever played in! Spectacular weather, great food and
drink and free-flowing luxury cigars ensure an unforgettable experience.
But perhaps most important is the fun and camaraderie enjoyed both
on and off the golf course. Pros and amateurs golf, dine, socialize
and enjoy the casino and nightlife together. Lasting friendships have
been made. Most participants return year after year.
Amateur foursomes played with a different professional each day. Closest-to-the-pin
prizes were awarded every day, as were trophies for the first, second
and third place finishers. At Saturday night’s final banquet, the
overall winners, based on total score for the three days, were honored.
Two amateur foursomes tied for first place: John Manning, Gary Scott,
Tim Morris and John Gleber and Jim Colucci, Devon Quigley, Paul Del
Rossi and Abdiel Ortiz.
